Industrial Hygiene Specialist (2/12/10)

Industrial Hygiene Specialist position in Philadelphia area for 1 year contract. The Industrial Hygiene Specialist will serve as a technical resource to employees in the organization.

Minimum Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Occupational Health affiliated field (Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety Management) or another applicable technical field (chemistry, biology, engineering, physiology) combined with a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in industrial hygiene.
  • Knowledge or experience in laboratory settings is desired.
  • Demonstrated advanced, applied knowledge of governmental S&OH regulations.
  • Strong chemistry background with demonstrated experience or knowledge in chemical air monitoring as well as qualitative and quantitative exposure assessment and industrial ventilation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of noise measurement, noise control and hearing conservation, respiratory protection, personal protective clothing choice, hazard communication and heat stress monitoring and control.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and presenting Safety & Health education programs for all levels of employees.
  • Ability to effectively serve as a team player and have strong interpersonal skills interpersonal and oral/written skills to communicate effectively within the organization and outside regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to analyze technical and regulatory information and provide prudent recommendations to all levels within the company.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines as well as manage change and work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop corrective measures in order to control health hazards by either reducing or eliminating the exposure.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop procedures that promote a safe and healthy workplace and minimize the potential for exposure to physical, chemical and biological hazards.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in or lead process hazard reviews of new and existing equipment to ensure industrial hygiene issues are addressed.
  • Ability to conduct proactive and reactive ergonomic assessments, in office, laboratory and industrial settings that include identification of risk factors. Provides a report on recommendations to aid in decisions around corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated effective oral presentation, report writing, and other written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computer software (systems used are Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, intra/internet, etc.).

Additional Information:

  • Frequent travel between Wilmington-area sites and occasional travel to non-Wilmington area sites/customer facilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Required to wear PPE (safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, and respiratory protection) on an as-needed basis.
  • Need to work flexible hours.
  • Certification (or eligible to be certified in 1-3 years) by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene is preferred.

Senior Safety Professional (2/12/10)

Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) is committed to assisting industry and government achieve world-class competitiveness. CTC has a full-time opening for a Senior Safety Professional at its Arlington, Virginia location.

CTC is seeking a qualified professional to support the DoD client in implementing OSHA VPP program and to assist in the development and writing of Safety and Occupational programs and procedures. In addition the candidate will conduct work for the Voluntary Protection Program Center of Excellence (VPP CX) sponsored by DoD. The Mission of the VPP CX is to assist DoD Installation Commanders and Activity Directors in achieving Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) Star status. In serving that mission, successful candidate will provide direct and remote support to nominated installations and activities across the U.S. This support may include site visits, preparing gap analyses, action plans and follow-up support. The ideal individual will be responsible for VPP assessments, training and implementation both on site and remotely. The qualified candidate will interact with base commanders, safety staff, on-site laborers as well as other VPP CX team members. Excellent communications and team skills are essential. Up to 60% travel may be required.

The selected applicant will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Safety Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Public or related field plus 6-8 years of experience providing safety and occupational health experience. A Master of Science degree, VPP, Systems Safety and Ergonomics experience is a plus.
